Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)

A health maintenance organization (HMO) is a type of managed care organization (MCO) that provides a form of health care coverage in the United States that is fulfilled through hospitals, doctors, and other providers with which the HMO has a contract. Unlike traditional indemnity insurance, an HMO covers only care rendered by those doctors and other professionals who have agreed to treat patients in accordance with the HMO's guidelines and restrictions in exchange for a steady stream of customers. Control Cholesterol

Cholesterol is one of the fats in your blood. It is produced by your liver. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is called "bad cholesterol" because high levels in the blood cause the buildup of plaque in the artery walls and block blood flow, a disease called atherosclerosis. High-density lipoprotein (HLD) is considered "good" cholesterol since it helps remove HDL from the blood and is needed to help produce cell membranes, vitamin D and some hormones. Males over 40 and females over 50 or post-menopausal should know their cholestherol level and consult with their doctors if levels indicates a moderate or high risk of heart disease. Some actions include reducing fat intake to less than 30% of daily calories; quit smoking; get regular exercises. There are each healthy steps regardless of your risk level
