What can you do to be fit and healthly at 50?
Aging is associated with changes in body composition, a tendency to gain fat mass and lose lean tissue ( bone and muscle). Age-related muscle atrophy and decreased aerobic capacity begin around age 50. Muscle-fiber changes from fast to slow, eventually decreasing muscle force output. These changes has been linked to a greater risk of morbility and disability. Loss of strength and muscle quality contributes to decline in physical function. Lack of activity and insufficient dietary intake accelerate the aging process, leading to pain and injury when exercises is attempted.
